Additional licensing requirements include:
Home improvement projects valued between $7,500 and $50,000 require registration or licensure.
Residential subcontractors performing more than $7,500 of work on new home construction must be licensed in designated trades such as framing, masonry, roofing, foundations, pile driving, and swimming pools.
Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing projects exceeding $10,000 require licensing.

Requirements?
Plumbing LicensingIndividuals seeking plumbing licensure in Louisiana must first register as an Apprentice with the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana (SPBLA) and work under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman or Master Plumber.
Residential Plumber – Limited: Applicants must complete 3,000 hours of supervised experience through a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) or 4,000 hours through a non-RAP pathway. Experience must be limited to residential plumbing work on one- and two-family dwellings.
Journeyman Plumber: Applicants must complete 7,000 hours of supervised experience through a RAP or 8,000 hours through a non-RAP pathway and pass the required examination. Louisiana maintains plumbing reciprocity agreements with Texas and Arkansas. Qualifying out-of-state license holders may use their license in place of work-experience verification to qualify for the exam.
Master Plumber: Licensed Journeyman Plumbers may apply to take the Master Plumber examination.
Additional Licenses and Endorsements: SPBLA also administers licensing for Master and Journeyman Natural Gas Fitters, Medical Gas Installers, Medical Gas Verifiers, and Water Supply Protection Specialists (WSPS).
WSPS Endorsement: Applicants must hold a qualifying plumbing or irrigation license and complete a Board-approved certification program.
Contractor Licensing: Contractor applicants must complete the required Business and Law course and examination, along with any applicable trade examinations. Louisiana accepts the NASCLA Accredited Examination in lieu of certain contractor trade exams. Financial statements are required with all applications.
Residential Building Contractors, Home Improvement Contractors, and Mold Remediation Contractors must maintain workers' compensation coverage and general liability insurance in accordance with state requirements.
Reciprocal Agreements
Reciprocity: The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) may accept qualifying examination scores from other states for classifications that require testing, provided the license was obtained without waivers, exemptions, or grandfather provisions. The examination must be determined by the LSLBC to be substantially equivalent to the Louisiana classification being requested. Applicants must still satisfy all other licensing requirements, including any review of prior or pending violations.Plumbing Reciprocity: The State Plumbing Board of Louisiana grants reciprocity to Journeyman Plumbers in good standing from Texas and Arkansas. Eligible applicants may obtain equivalent Louisiana Journeyman Plumber and Natural Gas Fitter licenses without additional examination.
